We live in a world where everyone has something to say about pretty much everyone. The news headlines are jam packed with comment on individuals and their actions; their failures, their successes, and of course, we are encouraged to decide whether we ‘like’ or ‘approve’ of them from the perspective of our own lives.
So, in a world of such visibility, how can you or I not feel that our own performance is constantly being judged, weighed up, found wanting. From our early childhood we are daily taught that we either please – or we don’t; we pass – or we fail; how can we not learn that passing or failing is what everything hinges on?
When we are carrying such an immense burden of conditioning and education, how can we possibly ever feel free to simply be loved?
I feel as though God has been continually trying to tell me that I don’t have to ‘perform’ to achieve His love; I have it anyway. And in the same way, no matter what we have done, no matter what skeletons we hide in our cupboards, and no matter what the world is telling us we should or shouldn’t have done, His love for us can never, will never be diminished.
When we kneel before Him, we are up there with the greats, from St Paul and all of the apostles, through Christian martyrs who gave everything up for Jesus, to Billy Graham, Pete Greig and many more – we are, loved, we are accepted, we are Where the Warriors Kneel.”
The new single ‘Where the Warriors Kneel’ will be available to download from 24th February 2023. See website for details Out of the Ashes
